The Kings Speech Review

By Lesley Rickman

Released boxing day last year, The King’s Speech was always going to be a runaway success. With the acting talents of Geoffrey Rush, Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter there wasn’t much chance of anything being lacking in the acting department.

The King’s Speech is a biopic covering King George VI acclamation onto the throne and the personal difficulties he had to face to make himself a monarch worth remembering for more than just his stutter.

This heart warming and funny film caught the instant attention of critics from all over the world, hailing it as a masterpiece. Well deserved too, I say.

The King’s Speech won four Oscars and is still currently participating in several film festivals. The recent DVD release has also proved a success with copies flying off the shelves at an unusual pace, especially for an independent release. So if you have yet to witness the splendor that is The King’s Speech then I suggest you rectify that as soon as possible.

Have you seen this movie? What did you think of it?
